Dr. Tabetha Boyajian and a team of citizen scientists discovered KIC 8462852, an overlooked star in Kepler mission data. The light curve of KIC 8462852 suggested that something other than a planet was orbiting the star. Dr. Boyajian and her team suggested that a cluster of comets was circling the star. Then another team of scientists proposed it could be an alien megastructure. In May, the star began to dim again.
